Jessy's DVD Movie Review - UP
I’ve been super busy gearing up for my next gaming tourney that I totally let my movie watching slide. So last night Yuki brought home sushi and the movie UP to try to distract me away from my Xbox…it worked. We ate all my favs: California and Spicy Salmon Rolls, Nigiri - Shrimp, Hamachi, Salmon, Tuna, and let’s not forget the Gyozas!!! YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY!!! But that’s not what I wanted to talk about, BUT I could totally eat more sushi right now. If I could only eat one kind of food forever it would be: SUSHI! ANNNNYYWWAAAYYYYSSS…after I totally pigged out on the deliciousness, the three of us sat down to watch the movie.
To start off, I just want to say one of my fav Disney/Pixar movies was Monsters Inc., hmmm, I liked The Incredibles too though. Its cool how they make films about all different things…toys (Toy Story), bugs (A Bug’s Life), monsters, fish (Finding Nemo), superheros, cars, rats (Ratatouille), robots (Wall-E) and now UP is about real people. UP is the story of a cranky old balloon salesman, Carl Fredricksen, who lives alone when he meets the spunky 8-year old Wilderness Explorer, Russell who is looking for just one more badge to move up to become a Senior Wilderness Explorer. Mr. Fredricksen really doesn’t want anything to do with him, but Russell is determined to get his “Assisting the Elderly” badge. Their adventure begins when Mr. Fredricksen ties thousands of helium balloons to his house to transport it to Paradise Falls, South America, but what he doesn’t realize at the time is he has an extra passenger - RUSSELL. This is a story about friendship, caring for nature and responsibility. Parts of the movie are slow, like Leiyah thought the beginning was super slow...but I thought it was really touching; Parts of it are actually quite sad, and some super inspiring. Overall, I really enjoyed it. Most Disney/Pixar films are rated G, but this one like The Incredibles was rated PG but I think that is because it was quite a bit more serious than their other movies but maybe it was because the characters were humans so the audience can relate to them more - that's why I think I liked it so much. To tell you the truth, Leiyah didn’t wasn't so keen on it, probably for the reason I just wrote about - but Yuki loved it too. It's a really inspiring story and it shows you that if you have the "spirit of adventure" anything is possible.

UP was really sad. A study shows that most adults (around 80 to 90 percent average) cried during UP. I cried. It was sad but an amazing movie. A must see for all ages. At first I thought it was babyish, but then I saw it was not. Great movie, and if you havn't seen it you are going to kick yourself for not seeing it sooner!
